ITS Carolinas Training Program

Program Overview

To promote awareness and excellence in transportation system management and operations (TSMO) strategies within the Carolinas and beyond.

  • Real-world scenario training
  • Operations volunteer opportunities
  • 3-year program
  • 3 modules (1-2 day training sessions) per year
  • 20 participants anticipated

Program Details

CURRICULUM

Three modules will be introduced annually:

Year 1 Modules

  • Advanced Freeway Operations Techniques – Fall 2019 in Raleigh, NC
  • Regional Operations Academy (Leadership, Systems Engineering, TSMO and CMM) – Winter 2020, location TBD
  • Advanced Arterial Operations Techniques – Spring 2020 in Charlotte, NC

Year 2 and 3 Tentative Modules

  • Managing for Safety in Work Zones
  • Traveler Information/Freight
  • Performance Measures
  • Supporting Infrastructure and Maintenance
  • Smart Cities & Data Analytics
  • Autonomous & Connected Vehicles

PROGRAM BENEFITS AND REQUIREMENTS

Benefits

  • Graduates will be equipped as industry leaders in TSMO and identified as Operations Certified Professionals (OCP) by ITS Carolinas.
  • Graduates will build lasting relationships with their peers and instructors.

Requirements

  • Attendance of all sessions
  • Completion of all pre-work/post-work
  • Exam and certificate of completion for each course
