ITSC 2022 Scholarship!

ITS Carolinas is now accepting applications for a $2,000 scholarship! We are accepting applications through February 28, 2022 and will award the scholarship in March 2022. The scholarship is intended to provide financial support for any expenses related to the student’s pursuit of a degree.

To be eligible, the student must:

  1. Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with a university or college in North Carolina or South Carolina.
  2. Be pursuing a degree with course work and a career goal focused on ITS and/or transportation operations.
  3. Not be a previous ITS Carolinas Scholarship recipient. Previous applicants who did not receive a scholarship, but still meet the eligibility criteria may reapply.

Why a Scholarship Fund?

We are a collection of companies and public agencies in the Intelligent Transportation Systems industry. 2022 Scholarship Winner: Fengjiao Zou

We are excited to accounce Fengjiao Zou as the winner of our ITSC 2022 scholarship. Fengjiao is a Ph.D. Candidate in Transportation systems at Clemson University. She is a data enthusiast that aims to improve safety and mobility of transportation systems. With experience in traffic engineering, intelligent transportation system, roadway safety, roadway design, connected and automated vehicles, vehicle and pedestrian interaction, travel behavior, and ADA sidewalk surveys, we are excited to see how Fengjiao transforms the ITS industry in the future.

Previous Scholarship Winner: Jiayun Shen

The ITS Carolinas Scholarship Committee reviewed applications from 11 undergraduate and graduate students as part of our 2020 scholarship. The committee awarded Jiayun Shen of Clemson University a scholarship of $ 1,000. Jiayun will complete his master’s degree in Civil Engineering this May with plans to continue his education toward a doctoral degree. Jiayun expressed an interest in ITS and how it can benefit society through safety enhancements in Transportation. His view of including everyone and all types of transportation to benefit all roadway users showed an understanding of the positive potentials for ITS. Public safety is the top priority of every engineer and Jiayun Shen’s vision of improving safety for all transportation users and transportation modes through the potential for improving disaster evacuation logistics, emergency services, and everyday commutes showed vision for the future of ITS.
