ITS Carolinas wrapped up another exceptional show, February 12-13 in Charlotte, NC. With over 300 attendees, 28 vendors and 18 sponsors, this show was the largest one yet.

Our highly praised technical program focused on a diversity of ITS topics including smart transportation, the newest ITS technology, signal systems, safety and transportation systems management and operations, with a live drone demonstration focusing on how it relates to transportation and our future. In addition to the drone demonstration, the annual meeting also featured a tour of the Charlotte Traffic Management Center (TMC). Spots for the tour filled up quickly as attendees toured the TMC where CDOT proactively operates traffic management strategies. To top off our dynamic program, Shailen Bhatt, CEO and President of ITS America, starred as our luncheon speaker, emphasizing the rapid transformations in ITS technology and the importance of utilizing these technologies, not only to reduce congestion, but to save lives.

At the annual meeting, we not only work hard, but we play hard. Hosting our signature cornhole tournament during the reception, 42 teams went head to head in a lively competition. Chris Mahar, from Carolina Traffic Devices, and Denys Vielkanowitz, from the City of Wilmington, walked away victorious with the trophy and Skyline sponsored portable cornhole boards. Speaking of prizes, Nikola Ivanov, winner of the social media raffle, also walked away triumphant with his power bank and multi-purpose travel charging cable, and David St. John, from Digital Traffic Systems Inc., was the winner of the ITS 5C Summit free registration raffle. Congratulations to our winners!

A big thank you to our speakers, vendors, sponsors and all of our volunteers that made this annual meeting a tremendous success. We hope to see you all at the ITS 5C Summit, October 7-10 in Jacksonville, FL!
